Position Overview

Join our Japan management teams within Discova and FCM as our HR Manager, where you'll play a pivotal role in shaping our people and culture strategy and company success for both brands in Japan. As a key member of both the FCTG Asia Regional HR team and Japan management teams, you'll lead comprehensive HR initiatives while ensuring alignment with our global vision and Asia regional strategy.

What You'll Do

Drive Business Success Through Strategic HR Partnership

  • Build strong, multi-level relationships with regional leaders, HR Business Partners, and local management teams to align people initiatives with business priorities
  • Develop external and internal talent pipelines through strategic relationships with educational institutions and professional networks
  • Analyse financial and HR data to provide meaningful business insights that drive smart decision-making
  • Act as a change agent within the senior management team, identifying and initiating needed organizational changes

Deliver HR Excellence Across the Employee Lifecycle

  • Implement global and regional HR strategies in Japan with appropriate local adaptation
  • Oversee talent acquisition processes, particularly for managerial and professional roles, including recruitment, interviewing, and hiring
  • Guide and resolve complex HR issues throughout the employee lifecycle to minimize risk and legal exposure
  • Collaborate with regional & global HR operations team to streamline processes and optimize efficiency
  • Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
  • Ensure compliance with Japanese employment laws and regulations, maintaining current knowledge of legal requirements
  • Stay current with local and global HR trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies

  • Gather employee feedback at all levels to understand employee experience and drive improvements

What You'll Bring

  • 8+ years of full-spectrum HR experience with 3+ years managing teams, including a proven track record of leading organization-wide culture change
  • Deep knowledge of Japanese Employment Law and regulatory compliance, with experience working with local labour offices when required
  • Strategic business partnership skills with ability to align people initiatives to business priorities and partner effectively with senior leaders
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen to analyze HR and business data develop metrics, and provide insights that drive decision-making
  • Demonstrated change management capability with ability to identify needed changes and drive transformation through consultation and collaboration
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills that enable you to build trust and rapport at all organizational levels, from executives to frontline employees
  • Proven people development capability with experience building and leading high-performing teams in dynamic environments
  • Excellent communication skills in Japanese and English (written and verbal)
  • Solutions-oriented mindset with strong ownership, attention to detail, project management skills, and ability to work hands-on when needed
  • Matrix organization experience with international mindset, high integrity, and ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, high-growth environment
