About The Opportunity
This position will be responsible for all businesses of Flight Centre Travel Group in Canada. The Tax Manager, Canada will collaborate with the Americas and Global Tax teams as well as other teams within the organization including finance, treasury, legal and operations; also required to liaise with external consultants and advisors. The Tax Manager, Canada will be charged with improving existing processes, while also ensuring the Canadian businesses comply with existing standards, policies, controls and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- • Quarterly tax effect accounting calculations (IAS 12) and working papers, including true-up and final journal entries.
• Prepare and file Canadian corporate income tax filings and manage income tax payments.
• Prepare and file monthly indirect tax returns, while driving process improvements.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive audit ready files, including audit roadmap and strategy.
• Mange all federal or provincial audits, including gathering information, addressing incoming correspondence and drafting responses to the relevant taxing authority.
• Support the International Tax Lead (based in Brisbane, Australia) to manage the Canadian transfer pricing requirements, including periodic true-up analysis and documentation requirements
• Research and draft memoranda on tax technical issues, assist with planning projects and business partnering, as needed
• Identification and implementation of potential tax opportunities (eg. Scientific Research and Experimental Development tax incentives)
• Identification of tax issues or changes in legislation affecting Canadian entities.
• Assist with employment taxes (e.g. payroll, pension plan, share plan reporting, advising on expatriate or inpatriate tax issues)
• Train finance staff in relation to tax matters as required
Experience & Qualifications

Required:
- Degree in Accounting with a minimum of 5-10 years of experience with a minimum of 3 years managing the tax life cycle.
- Big Four accounting firm experience required.
Nice to Have:
- CPA/Masters of Tax degree preferred.
- Prior experience with complex GST compliance and audit environments preferred.
- Data analytics experience
- Strong technology skills including - Microsoft Excel, Power Query, Power Automate, Power BI
- Intermediate / advanced knowledge of Thomson Reuters OneSource Income Tax RS and OneSource Tax Provision.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of $100,000 - $130,000. Base salary is dependent on relevant factors, including experience, geographic location, and job requirements.
