The role you're describing involves managing and supporting the BlackLine Account Reconciliation System, with responsibilities spanning security, data management, and reporting. It also requires providing support during the month-end close and assisting with various ad-hoc projects. Here’s a breakdown of the key elements and skills needed for this role:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. System Administration:

    • Oversee the BlackLine Account Reconciliation System, including security configurations, exchange rates, and reassignments.
    • Manage data within the system and ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  2. Support for Accounting and Finance Teams:

    • Provide General Ledger, Security, and Reporting support during the month-end close and throughout accounting periods.
    • Address any issues or queries from accounting and finance teams.
  3. Query and Data Management:

    • Create and manage queries, ensuring the accuracy of existing queries and tables used within the system.
    • Maintain system documentation and controls to ensure data integrity.
  4. Ad-hoc Projects and Analysis:

    • Assist with various projects and analyses as needed, demonstrating flexibility and problem-solving skills.

Must-Have Skills:

  1. BlackLine System Expertise:

    • Experience as a BlackLine System Administrator or Local Administrator is crucial for managing and optimizing the system.
  2. Technical Proficiency:

    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, are required for data analysis and reporting.
  3. Communication Skills:

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with IT, finance teams, and management.
  4. Organizational and Analytical Skills:

    • Strong time-management, attention to detail, and analytical skills are essential for handling multiple tasks and ensuring data accuracy.
  5. Interpersonal Skills:

    • Ability to interact effectively with various functions and levels of management, with a focus on customer service and relationship management.
