About the Opportunity

You are a recognised expert in multiple technology domains relevant to the Flight Centre Travel Group and will represent the senior technical leadership. You will be responsible for driving the technical direction of your part of the organisation, assisting the Corporate Technology Leadership Team and other senior technical leaders, working closely with Product Managers to support our strategy and customer growth, and engaging with engineers to help drive technical outcomes.

Drawing from parallels of a Team Leader, Solution Architect and Technical Architect, the Principal Engineer will directly report to the Product Development Leader and have alignment with the Corporate ANZ Chief Technical Officer to oversee the development, and design of significant engineering projects. With your extensive industry and domain expertise, and your keen eye for technical and solution architecture, you will be an expert communicator and know how to engage with required people to ensure a successful outcome.

With your vast industry and technology experience, you will be able to:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive engineering development program
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to engineers at all levels, helping them reach their full potential
  • Solve technical problems of the highest scope, complexity, and ambiguity
  • Guide conversations to remove blockers and encourage collaboration across teams
  • Have a product delivery mindset, focussed on continually delivering value
  • Interact with customers (both in pre-sales and account management) and other external stakeholders as a consultant and spokesperson for Flight Centre Corporate
  • You are an experienced leader of engineers and able to lead a small team of engineering leads and their engineers
  • Participate in the recruitment process, including interviewing and assessing technical candidates
  • Contribute to the onboarding process for new engineers, ensuring a smooth integration into the team
  • Play a central role in technical, business, and organisational contributions affecting your domain area
  • Have extensive experience (10+ years) working in a wide range of technology tools and products: Java and C# are a must have, along with RPA platforms, Microsoft Azure, C#, UML, Enterprise Integration Patterns, etc
  • Know when you need to get your hands dirty and get on the tools, regardless of the tool
