As the Solution Architect you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing technical solutions that align with business objectives and IT strategies. You will ensure that IT systems, applications, and infrastructure are scalable, secure, and efficient, while meeting functional and nonfunctional requirements. The role will collaborate with business stakeholders, IT teams, and vendors to translate business needs into practical, high-quality technology solutions.
Day in the life:
Solution Design & Architecture
- Design end-to-end solutions that meet business requirements and align with Enterprise Architecture standards
- Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-effective
- Define and document technical architectures, data flows, and integration points
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work with business stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into technical solutions
- Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, developers, and vendors throughout the project lifecycle
Technology Leadership
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to development and infrastructure teams
- Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations aligned with strategic goals
Governance & Standards
- Ensure solutions comply with Enterprise Architecture principles, security standards, and IT governance
- Maintain architecture documentation and support architectural review processes
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, and maintainability
- Contribute to IT strategic planning and road mapping activities.
Project Support
- Support project estimation, planning, and delivery activities.
- Assist with issue resolution, risk identification, and mitigation strategies.
Role requirements:
- 7-10 years in IT architecture, with proven experience in solution design, integration, and implementation
- Experience of working in a large, private-sector IT organisation
- Strong knowledge of principles such as design thinking
- Broad knowledge of IT technologies and vendors, coupled with the ability to promote and explain new developments to both technical and nontechnical audiences
- Strong business acumen
- Experience in developing an ICT strategy
- Business capability modelling and customer journey mapping techniques
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), AWS/Azure Solution Architect, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), or relevant industry certifications
- MBA
