Purpose

The Payments Team Leader will be leading, motivating, and maximising the team potential to ensure the long term, positive Accounts relationship with its Suppliers, Partners, and customers. The Team Leader will also focus on coaching the ongoing growth of Team Members, process improvements and efficiencies. 

This role is primarily responsible for paying suppliers timely and accurately while actioning and resolving supplier queries. You will be responsible for ownership of the overall management of the Accounts Payable function, including the timely payment of supplier invoices, management of supplier queries and relationships, and ensuring that team performance meets KPIs and incentives. 

 

 

 

Day to day ...

Leadership, Support and Development 

  • Effectively lead their team to meet allocation of work and weekly/monthly KPI’s. 

  • Support and foster a positive, well-balanced high-performance team environment and culture. 

  • Effective One on Ones, planners and WBMs 

  • Develop the team through goal setting, training and career development 

 

Process Improvement 

  • Ad-hoc projects to continually improve the team processes, controls, and quality of work to ensure teams are processing in a timely manner and to a high standard. 

  • Investigation and implementation of new processes as per best practice to address problems. 

 

Supplier, Partner & Customer Relationship Management 

  • Knowledge of your stakeholders and importance to maintain strong stakeholder relationships i.e., Suppliers, Offshore partners, and Travel Managers with proactive clear communication.  

  • Identify any trends or areas of concern to Head of Accounts Payable and take corrective action to mitigate financial/Operational risks. 

  • Timely and accurate query resolution 

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities 

  • Oversee the weekly payment run process to ensure all supplier payments are made on time 

  • Supervise the processing of ad-hoc and advanced payments within SLA 

  • Manage supplier queries, issues, and disputes to resolution 

  • Handle internal queries from departments regarding chargebacks 

  • Oversee reconciliation of statements from major suppliers 

  • Look after the daily reconciliation of bank statements for supplier payments and refunds 

  • Organise daily VCC reconciliation 

  • Provide Payment Times reporting and maintain supplier records and payment details 

  • Approve Supplier Payments 

 

 

 

 

We’d love to hear from you if you have… 

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or relevant field 

  • Have a minimum 3-5 years of experience in an accounts payable role 

  • Travel Industry Experience 

  • Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills 

  • Attention to detail and accuracy 

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise workload 

  • Team leadership and management experience
