In this role you will take charge of designing and developing innovative technical solutions within a collaborative team environment. You will ensure that each solution not only meets customer and business requirements but also adheres to the highest technical standards. Our ideal candidate will be a passionate coach and mentor, inspiring their team while championing agile software delivery practices like continuous delivery and test automation. 

  

Your Responsibilities:  

  • Partner with stakeholders to support solution discovery 
  • Identify gaps in technical capability, and work with architects and others to resolve these 
  • Align technical solutions to customer and business needs 
  • Advocate and support Agile ways of working 
  • Promote and support best practices 
  • Remove impediments and distractions to optimise team performance 
  • Building Product Capabilities: You’ll be working on developing product features to increase user adoption, which is critical to the success of the platform
 

Leadership

  • Collaborate with team members to identify and fix technical problems 
  • Analyse customer and business needs and design and develop solutions that meet them 
  • Manage technical debt and ensure that solutions remain updated and supported 
  • Conduct security audits and identify areas of improvement 
  • Guide a team through technical issues and challenges 
  • Continuously learn and develop yourself and others helping to meet team technical goals 
  • Support agile team transformation and encourage teams to adopt agile values 

 
Software Engineering

  • Design and develop efficient, testable, and maintainable solutions 
  • Ensure solutions meet customer and business needs 
  • Continuously manage and reduce technical debt 
  • Support and advocate secure coding practices 
  • Support and advocate engineering best practice 
  • Advocate and adopt modern architectural solutions where appropriate, such as microservices, event driven architecture, and serverless 
  • Support the uptime and availability of solutions in production 

  

  

Who you are: 

  • 7+ years professional experience in a senior software engineering role 
  • A Bachelor’s degree or demonstrated equivalent experience 
  • Demonstrated understanding of Agile principles and processes 
  • Strong understanding of modern software engineering principles and practices 
  • Commercially minded with the ability to hit the ground running, and to build and maintain constructive working relationships at all levels 
  • Excellent adaptive team leadership capabilities including the ability to foster productive team dynamics, engage and enable teams and coach for performance 
  • Strong Technical Expertise: The right candidate should have strong cloud development experience with Serverless and/or containers. They need to have successfully delivered projects in this space, ideally using modern web development frameworks like React (or similar JSX component-based libraries). 
  • Experience in Relevant Domains: They should be familiar with eCommerce, checkout, and order fulfillment processes. Experience with observability platforms and data-driven development practices will also be important. 
  • Leadership & Mentorship: The individual must be a good mentor, able to guide team members, collaborate with Agile Delivery Leads (ADL), Business Analysts (BA), and UX teams, and work closely with architects to ensure best practices are followed
  • High level of integrity and professional accountability 
  • Ability to embrace change in a fast-paced environment 
  • Proactive in identifying risks and opportunities 
  • Ability to manage multiple issues at once and strong prioritisation skills 
  • Experience within travel or other internet-scale environments (Desired)  
  • Strong understanding of the travel or retail industry (Desired)
