About The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Associate General Counsel to join our Toronto-based legal team. This role focuses primarily on commercial contracts and corporate matters within a global operational context, with additional responsibility for employment law and other general business matters. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in contract negotiation and drafting, an understanding of provincial employment law, and the ability to work effectively across multiple jurisdictions. The ability to work in French is preferred, but not required.

You will be joining a small, but strong, legal team as the lead attorney for Canada matters, reporting to the Regional General Counsel for the Americas. We work in a fast paced, commercially driven environment, and you will be expected to work comfortably with stakeholders from all levels of the company, both locally and globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements including international vendor contracts and global service agreements
  • Collaborate with HR and business units on employment-related matters
  • Manage employment related disputes and litigation
  • Support IT procurement and vendor management across multiple jurisdictions
  • Review marketing materials and advertising campaigns for legal compliance
  • Monitor Canadian regulatory changes and update internal policies as necessary
  • Advise on data privacy and protection requirements (some experience with GDPR preferred)
  • Handle corporate secretarial duties and maintain corporate records

Experience & Qualifications

  • Required: Minimum 4+ years of legal experience
  • Required: Comprehensive knowledge of Canadian business and contract law
  • Required: Strong experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements
  • Required: Ability to work from Toronto office in accordance with company policy
  • Preferred: Fluent in English and French (written and verbal)
  • Preferred: Proven track record in managing and mentoring paralegals and/or junior attorneys
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Quebec civil law
  • Preferred: Travel industry experience
  • Required: Member in good standing of a provincial law society

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of $165,000. Base salary is dependent on relevant factors, including experience, geographic location, and job requirements.
