Travel Services, a division of FCTG, is a core Horizon 2-focussed department which encompasses several renowned brands, including Top Deck, Backroads, Cross Hotels & Resorts, Discova and the new external API business (Travel Junction).


The Chief Financial Officer will play a crucial role in the strategic and financial management of FCTG and Travel Services. The CFO will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of Travel Services, ensuring sustainable growth and long-term financial success of the division as a whole and the individual brands within Travel Services. This role will involve collaborating closely with the executive leadership team, providing financial insights and guidance to support informed decision making across the organisation. The CFO will also provide oversight and hands-on support for our individual Travel Services businesses and work closely with the CFOs and their finance teams to ensure that FCTG’s financial and commercial expectations as a public company are delivered.

 

Day to day you’ll be… 

  • Developing and implementing comprehensive financial strategies and plans aligned with the company's overall business objectives and growth targets.
  • Leading the annual budgeting process, ensuring effective financial planning and forecasting for the organisation.
  • Collaborating with the executive leadership team to explore and evaluate new business opportunities, potential mergers, or acquisitions.
  • Overseeing the preparation and analysis of financial statements and management reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Ensuring timely financial reporting to meet legal, regulatory, and stakeholder requirements.
  • Establishing and maintaining robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • A member of the senior leadership team, you will lead by example by embracing the company’s purpose, values and culture
  • Playing an influential role working with the local CFOs and finance teams to ensure the Global strategies are deployed, and results measured
  • Maintaining and developing external relationships with key suppliers, bankers, auditors, tax advisers and lawyers as and when required
  • Identify and assess financial risks and implement effective risk management strategies to mitigate potential negative impacts on the company's financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, industry standards, and corporate governance requirements.
  • Responsible for the Travel Service operational risk and compliance team
  • Manage the company's cash flow and working capital efficiently, optimising liquidity and ensuring the availability of funds to meet operational and strategic needs.
  • Review of growth opportunities, including acquisitions through the support of financial due diligence and strategic alignment.

 

We’d love to hear from you if you have… 

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Essential: Bachelor's Degree and CA/CPA
  • High Attention to Detail and the ability to shift focus to suit business needs
  • Experience in dealing well with pressure and takes ownership for successes and failures
  • Demonstrated a belief in FCTG philosophies and values as well as a passion for business and company
  • Excellent Communication, excellent persuasive skills and ability to influence others
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skill with a focus on customer service
  • The ability to develop and enhance relationships whilst working effectively in a team
  • Strong leadership abilities with junior members of team.
  • The ability to understand and report on financial information, work on financial modelling and adapt financial information to meet users needs. 
  • Breaks information into component parts, patterns and relationships. Probes for further information or greater understanding of a problem
  • A strong Commercial Acumen, focusing on results and understanding the key business drivers for FCTG.
