🔴 Role Highlights
We’re looking for a Retail Management Accountant to join our Finance team at Flight Centre Travel Group. In this role, you’ll partner closely with retail brands and business leaders to drive financial performance, improve profitability, and support long-term sustainability.
Sitting within the retail finance function, you’ll play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, insightful analysis, and strategic recommendations that influence decision-making across the business. This role blends strong technical accounting with commercial thinking - helping translate numbers into meaningful business outcomes.
You’ll also work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure financial control, compliance, and continuous process improvement, while supporting budgeting, forecasting, and operational efficiency across multiple regions.
🎯 What You’ll Do
• Prepare and deliver accurate monthly income statements, balance sheets, and management packs
• Analyse financial performance, identify variances, and provide actionable insights
• Partner with business leaders to support decision-making and drive profitability
• Lead budgeting and forecasting processes across retail areas
• Ensure strong financial controls, compliance, and adherence to company policies
• Deliver ad hoc reporting and analysis to support business performance
• Monitor trends, risks, and opportunities to improve financial outcomes
• Support audit processes, weekly estimates, and debtor management
• Drive simplification, automation, and efficiency across finance processes
• Provide financial training and support to team leaders and frontline staff
🔍 What We’re Looking For
• Completed or studying towards a Business, Commerce, Accounting, or Finance qualification (CIMA advantageous)
• 3–5 years’ experience in a finance or management accounting role
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate data into business insights
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail with a strong track record of accuracy and meeting deadlines
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with financial systems (e.g. Omnis, GAS, SUN, BI tools) advantageous
• Self-driven, adaptable, and resilient with strong accountability
🔧 Preferred Qualifications / Skills
• Postgraduate qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce
• Completed accounting articles or CIMA qualification
• Experience in retail or multi-site environments
• Exposure to financial systems, dashboards, and reporting tools
• Strong focus on process improvement, automation, and efficiency
• Coaching and stakeholder engagement skills

• Collaborate with finance teams during month-end close and reporting cycles
• Review financial results and provide commentary on key trends and variances
• Partner with area and brand leaders to improve performance and profitability
• Prepare and present management reports and insights
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
• Identify risks and opportunities and recommend solutions
• Conduct store visits and provide financial guidance to operational teams
• Continuously improve reporting, processes, and systems
