
As the Workday Functional SME in the Compensation and Benefits work stream, you will be essential for driving the effective implementation and enhancement of Workday's capabilities in managing compensation and benefits. You will be working hand-in-hand with the project team, business experts, and stakeholders to craft functional requirements, streamline business processes, and ensure effortless integration of compensation and talent strategies within the Workday framework. Please note this role is a fixed term contract and can be based in either Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.
Day to day you’ll be:
Working with Workday Project Team Leads as the project enters a phase of testing and release. You’ll collaborate closely with testing teams and business stakeholders to support end-to-end test cycles, resolve defects, and ensure alignment with business requirements. You'll also play a key role in readiness planning, data validation, and stakeholder engagement as the program moves toward release.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans with the Project Manager, defining workstream objectives, deliverables, and timelines
- Lead functional workstreams, allocate tasks, and ensure timely delivery in line with project goals and deadlines
- Track project progress, adjust plans as necessary, and ensure milestones are met within scope and budget
- Address issues proactively and escalate risks to the Project Manager to prevent delays or project failure
- Collaborate with project teams, SMEs, and stakeholders to gather and document functional requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals
- Design and document business processes related to compensation and talent within Workday, ensuring clear communication between technical teams and business stakeholders
- Develop deep knowledge of Workday’s configuration for compensation, performance management, and succession planning
- Design and implement compensation plans, salary structures, pay grades, and review processes in Workday, aligning with organisational strategies and market benchmarks
- Leverage Workday’s analytics and reporting tools to assess compensation equity, ensure compliance, and evaluate the effectiveness of compensation programs
- Partner with the Data Lead to support data cleansing, validate accuracy, and prepare test scripts for compensation and talent functionalities

- Compensation and Ben experience in global Workday environments and implementations -- particularly working to deploy Advanced Compensation
- Proven experience in Workday implementation with a focus on compensation and talent modules
- Strong knowledge of Workday
- Experience working with project teams & cross functional stakeholders
- Strong communication & interpersonal skills
