The Global Sustainability Officer will play an integral role in developing the maturity of FCTG’s sustainability commitment.  The role will report to the General Manager of Enterprise Risk and work collaboratively with other teams across FCTG’s global operations.

As the maturity of FCTG’s sustainability commitment increases, the duties and responsibilities of this role may change.

About the Role:

The Global Sustainability Officer will help ensure FCTG’s business practices are economically, environmentally, and socially sustainable. The role will collaborate with the senior leadership team, employees, ERG’s, customers, suppliers, and shareholders to further develop and oversee the execution of strategies to deliver on the organisation's environmental, social and governance objectives.

What you’ll be doing:

The duties and responsibilities of this role will continue to evolve as we mature our sustainability program.  Current duties and responsibilities are to:

  • Complete a global audit of current local, regional and global sustainability initiatives  
  • Develop, implement and monitor a global sustainability strategy that aligns with and supports the delivery of the strategic objectives of the Group
  • Lead a global network of sustainability stakeholders in the delivery of the Company’s sustainability objectives
  • Assist in the development of metrics and targets that enable the monitoring of the performance of the sustainability initiatives
  • Lead the development of sustainability reporting across the Group
  • Evaluate the efficacy of sustainability programs, recommending and implementing improvements as necessary
  • Monitor emerging Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) risks and opportunities, and incorporate into the Group's strategy as required
  • Design and implement frameworks that meet the requirements of external sustainability standards and certifications
  • Implement strategies to address various environmental and social concerns including energy use, conservation, reduction of pollution, recycling, diversity & inclusion, mental health and general education on sustainable business practices
  • Assist in the preparation of customer RFP’s and review and respond to customer enquiries regarding ESG
  • Develop sustainable organisational policies that address environmental concerns
  • Assess and analyse existing company policies and processes to identify areas in, and processes to which improvements can be made in accordance with the organisation's commitment to sustainability
  • Consider sustainability proposals with attention to factors such as cost effectiveness, feasibility, and ease of integration with other programs
  • Prepare and present reports, presentations, proposals and recommendations to key stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain appropriate documentation and records including budgets and other financials
  • Prepare documentation required for project funding for various environmental initiatives
  • Maintain current working knowledge of, and ensures compliance with, all applicable local, state, federal, and internal environmental laws and regulations
  • Identify, develop and facilitate training as needed
  • Engage experts as required from time to time to support the development and delivery of the long-term strategy

What you’ll need:

  • Minimum 3 years' recent experience in sustainability in an organisation
  • Detailed knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks and developments in current market practices
  • Detailed understanding of the ESG stakeholder landscape for listed companies
  • Thorough and current knowledge of sustainability practices
  • Presentation skills required to deliver proposals to varying groups of individuals
  • Relevant Degree qualification/ Professional Certification
