About the Opportunity
Discova is looking for a Regional Product Development Manager to join the team in Cancun, Mexico or Liberia Costa Rica. As a key member of the product leadership team, your role is to lead a high performing team, that consistently develops inspiring single day experiences and multiday touring that suits Discova’s clients across the world. Regional Product Development Manager will need to be in touch with the latest travel trends and be able to instantly convert these tends into irresistible product, that address gaps in the market and gives Discova our unique difference. The position requires a diverse skill-set ranging from developing innovative travel products and be able to create inspirational itineraries that showcase Discova’s authentic, local, and experiential product. If you have industry knowledge, passionate about Mexico, Costa Rica, and Dominican Republic destination or even a shark when it comes to negotiating with existing and new suppliers than we would love to hear from you! 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Continuous product research & Development, to deliver unique experiences while maximising profitability.
  • Develop and enact a product strategy ensuring Discova has a competitively priced and comprehensive offer matched to sales demand and targets.
  • Conduct competitor research and benchmarking for new products to ensure Discova’s offer is relevant, competitive, and unique for our different sales markets and partners.
  • Manage the Product Lifecycle from the development though to implementation, marketing and the commercial and operational success of new travel products.
  • Lead the contracting efforts for all suppliers, including hotels, transport, touring and flights.
  • Ensure and audit products in compliance with Discova’s health and safety standards. And monitor the success and profitability of new product and ensure sales are channelled to core suppliers.
  • Live and breathe Responsible travel policies and includes other to do the same.
  • Develop lasting relationships with suppliers to ensure Discova’s clients receive excellent on-the-ground support.
  • Conduct training sessions for staff, agents/operators and be a knowledge bank for the destinations in their region.
  • Create an environment where people feel supported, connected, and empowered.
  • Lead by example in behaviour, attitude, and performance.
  • Drive the business and team members to success using the vision and business plan as a guide.

About you:
The Essentials:

  • A Bachelor degree or at least 3 years in the industry working in tour guiding or product development and management.
  • An understanding of the inner workings of the travel industry and comprehensive travel industry knowledge.
  • A strong eye for creativity.
  • An excellent knowledge of Mexico, Costa Rica and Dominican Republic destination would be an advantage.
  • Adept at being able to articulate the benefits of our own products both in writing and verbally.
  • A high level of both written and spoken English and Knowledge of local language would be an advantage.
  • An experienced and confident presenter.
  • Extensive travel to our destinations or prior experience living in Latin Americas is plus.

  • Flexible rotating roster that may include late nights, weekends and early mornings and flexible with uncertainties/changing priorities and under pressure.
  • Willing to travel on business extensively
