Profile
This role is part of the Europe Finance Team within Flight Centre (UK)
Limited, Flight Centre Travel Group Limited’s (FCTG) UK subsidiary. The
scope of this role is very broad, with the focus being hands-on
management of the tax compliance functions for all FCTG group
companies and branches based in Europe, Middle East & Africa (FCTG
EMEA):- UK, Ireland, The Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Norway,
Finland, Germany, France, Switzerland, Spain, United Arab Emirates and
South Africa.
The EMEA Tax Manager will be supported by the South Africa Tax Manager
for tax compliance of the FCTG Africa businesses and companies but
maintain functional ownership of all areas of EMEA Tax.
Importantly, this role will also have a strong strategic focus of proactive
risk management, advising on tax issues including indirect taxes (VAT),
employment taxes, tax risk management,, training, improving systems
and processes, and implementing policy and legislative changes. 


Key Responsibilities


 Preparation and review of all tax effect statutory reporting and
papers required for external audit
 Management of tax payment obligations and preparation of
corporation tax returns
 Monitoring of any tax changes impacting on any transactions and
company strategies
 Ensuring all Indirect Tax calculations such as VAT and Tour
Operator Margin Scheme (TOMS) are completed and associated
returns filed
 Preparation and filing of annual UK PAYE Settlement Agreements
(PSA) and Global Employee Share Scheme reporting
 Staying abreast of and Iidentification of all tax issues or changes to
any tax legislation affecting Flight Centre Travel Group EMEA
 Develop solutions and implement changes as a result of any new
tax legislation
 Drive commercial outcomes and initiatives whilst managing tax
risks
 Managing key relationships with all tax authorities
 Review and continual improvement of all tax policies and
procedures
 Provision of Ttraining on important relevant tax issues to new
Finance employees
Key Skills, qualifications and experience required and


Requirements:

 ACA or CTA qualified with minimum 5 years’ post-qualified
experience in an in-house global corporate or indirect tax role or
reputable professional services firm advising global companies.
 Travel Industry experience is essential
 European/International Tax experience
 Transfer pricing experience will be advantageous
 Experience of managing relationships with HMRC and international
tax authorities
 Proven tax technical proficiency, able to research and apply
legislation and case law
 Minimum 5 years’ experience in VAT and employment tax issues
including:
 VAT and TOMS calculations and returns
 Implications of Indirect Tax on transactions
 UK PAYE Settlement Agreements (PSAs)
 Employee share scheme reporting
 Ex-patriot tax issues
 Commercially aware, focused on delivering pragmatic solutions
 Strong initiative to resolve issues or pursue new business
opportunities
 Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with ability to
develop relationships at all levels
 Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
 Flexibility and an ability to deal with change and pressured work
environment
 Strong organisational, administrative and time management
abilities
 A high level of professionalism
 Ability to take ownership of projects, work collaboratively with
others and see projects to completion
 Attention to detail
 Ability to travel/attend meetings and conference
